The AEWV Accreditation Process
To facilitate the application of an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) for a worker, you must complete the following accreditation process: apply for employer accreditation, advertise the role if required, and apply for a Job Check.
Apply for Employer Accreditation
Choose the accreditation level that suits your business needs:
- Standard Accreditation: For standard businesses hiring up to 5 migrants.
- High-Volume Accreditation: For standard businesses hiring 6 or more migrants.
- Franchisee Accreditation: For businesses that are part of a franchise with no limit on the number of migrants you can hire.
- Controlling Third Party Accreditation: For businesses that place migrants with third parties while being the direct employer named in the employment agreement, with no limit on the number of migrants you can hire.
Fees: The accreditation fee varies based on the type of accreditation you require.
Requirements:
To apply for employer accreditation, you need:
- NZBN (unless you are a foreign diplomatic mission)
- Business IRD number
Processing Time: Standard and high-volume applications from compliant employers are estimated to take 10 working days to process.
Advertise the Role
Before applying for a Job Check, you may need to advertise the position to ensure there are no suitable New Zealand citizens or residents available.
Advertising Requirements:
- Advertise the job for at least 2 weeks on a national listing website or channel where suitable New Zealanders are likely to apply.
- Meet other advertising requirements.
- Advertising must take place within 90 days before submitting an application.
- List Item
Job Description should inlcude:
- Pay range (minimum and maximum)
- Location
- Minimum hours of work
- Estimated earnings (if applicable)
- Required skills, experience, and qualifications
- Pay range at or above the market rate - Minimum pay of NZD $29.66 per hour (unless exempted)
Exceptions:
You are not required to provide evidence of advertising if the job:
- Pays at least twice the NZ median wage.
- Is on the Green List.
Job Check Application
Once you have accreditation, apply for a Job Check including:
- Job description
- Employment agreement
- Results of any required advertising
Job Checks are valid for 6 months or until your accreditation expires. The estimated processing time for compliant employers is 10 working days.
Ask the Migrant to Apply
Once the Job Check is approved, provide the migrant with a copy of the employment agreement and a signed employment offer.
The job offered to the migrant must match the approved Job Check in terms of experience and qualifications.
Send the migrant a request to apply from your Immigration Online dashboard. This will generate a unique link (job token) that the migrant must open and accept before beginning their visa application.
Visa Processing Time: It is estimated to take 20 working days to process a complete visa application
